Filing Insurance Complaints, including for force majeure, with Sanadak at UAE Central Bank (English Language)

The objective of this course is to examine UAE insurance legislations and the stages of its development for further regulating the insurance business. The course will define the insurance contract and pillars of it.
The course will also show types of disputes which may arise out of insurance policies, and method of resolving them in the past in comparison with the new applicable method at the present time, with making a reference to Federal Law No. 6 of 2007 regarding the Establishment of the Insurance Authority and Regulation of Insurance Operations, and Federal Decree Law No. 25 of 2020 in relation to insurance section.

The course will provide an overview of the Sanadak unit which has been established to resolve insurance complaints and the powers vested upon it for this end, with indicating procedures of filing insurance complaints, issuance of decisions and deadline to appeal decisions. The course will further address the possibility to file insurance complaints under the new legislation due to reasons of force majeure, comparing with the old legislation. The course will also cast light on the legislative objective for allowing filing complaints due to reasons of force majeure.
