Immigration Law

This course offers an in-depth understanding of Immigration Law in the United Arab Emirates, with a focus on the legal frameworks governing the movement of individuals across borders.

The course will cover the following topics:

– Provisions of nationality in UAE law according to Nationality Law No. 17 of 1972, as amended by Law No. 10 of 1975 and Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2017 and according to the Executive Regulations, as amended in 2021. Specifically:
– Methods of acquiring nationality by operation of law, through descent, or naturalization, particularly in light of the recent amendment to the Executive Regulations of the Federal Law on Nationality and Passports issued in January 2021, which allows granting UAE nationality to certain categories of foreigners and their family members based on a set of conditions and criteria.
– Cases that lead to the loss of UAE nationality.

– The status of foreigners in light of Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2021 regarding the entry and residence of foreigners in the UAE, and Cabinet Decision No. 65 of 2022 issuing the executive regulations of the aforementioned decree.
The course will cover in particular:
– Conditions for foreigners’ entry into the country and their obligations.
– Conditions for granting visas to foreigners and their types.
– Foreigners’ residence permits and their types.
– The Golden Visa.
– Deportation and expulsion of foreigners.
– Penalties for violations.
